Its nice to get something decent for free (that works) once in a while. It's certainly worth trying as a first step into 'proper' software as I've had some cracking results out of it, and same with any software, the operator is the key ingredient. Would I recommend it? well compared to what I was using a definite YES, compared to other commercial software, don't know as I haven't tried any, but it does what is says it will do. There are 'easy' options for most things though. Very complex options available, as above - this can be offputting for a beginner but probably no more than any other software,as to do complicated stuff it stands to reason it may be complicated to get to grips with.

Not good if you have a slow or flaky broad band connection (sorted mine now) Also the help function is not always available, although a good manual can be downloaded. Went to the web site, found a place to download, everything seems like its on the up and up. Its a free software that, among other things, digitizes designs. the worst bit, is that it won't work unless you are 'online' as there are rolling adverts, but as that's how they can make it free I guess you can live with that. The March/April issue of Creative Machine Embroidery had a feature for Stitch Era Universal software (pg. Maximum stitch count of 40k stitches, anything bigger than this can be done in a couple of parts, I have pasted together big bits on my machine and it worked ok. Quite a few 'exception errors' whatever they are, but usually if a graphic you are converting is too big or complex (or you do something unexpected). Crashes quite a bit, but not a problem if you do a reagular 'save' of what you are doing, that's probably my computer as it's doing a lot of stuff. Good informative downloadable manual (does assume some prior knowledge though) There's an online community which is very helpful, if you can get past the 'how do I get this to load' posts ) Auto and manual options for most things, although auto generally can be bettered when a bit of experience is gained.

Lots of things you can do, pretty much everything from individual stitches to full blown auto digitizing. Works well for me, I've not used any other except the starter software supplied with brother machine (PE lite) which was really basic. FREE (it was for me, I believe that ETC are now the UK distributor so they may charge a little for delivery of manual? - not sure on that) Pyemb.py -q -i * -f "%f,%x,%y" > embroidery_statistics.Stitch Era - I've been using this for quite a while now as a free download. You'd often just pipe this to a text file.

I have updated the command line tool to allow this, it will load the embroidery files and give you the requested information you want with a format tag. Also, and it's noteworthy, there's really not any other way to do this other than an open source project that can parse a few dozen embroidery formats. Such functionality with the project would require like a dozen lines of code, if anybody modernly comes across this, and would want to achieve these same ends. Moreover because some formats do not include these elements in a consistent fashion and you're better off reading the stitches and calculating the data as that would be the only way to get that information for files like. First you will need to make sure embroidery from the top drop down menu is selected.

You are now ready to send the design to your embroidery machine. But, usually most software will simply recalculate these values by parsing file. Stitch Era Liberty Version 11.41 Revision Date / Version: - 11 Saving a design for sewing Once you have edited, digitized a design or simply created text. Other aspects like height, width, stitch count, are stored in the stitch block within the file. PES files internally contain a number of metadata elements, in version 4+ of the format these are Label, Author, Keywords, Category, Comments. I am the author of EmbroidePy/pyembroidery and it can read those attributes. You need a command line tool built for pes files that could list those aspects.
